The Procurement Specialist (Buyer) role involves managing commodities and supplier portfolios of medium to larger scope, complexity, and/or spend. The position is responsible for all purchasing activities related to quality, cost, and schedule for assigned portfolios. This role requires effective cross-functional interaction with various departments such as Planning, Quality, Operations Engineering, Engineering, Production, Finance, Materials, and Customer Service Group. The specialist will proactively engage with suppliers to ensure their capabilities meet organizational requirements, produce RFQs, conduct bid evaluations, and issue purchase orders using cost analysis methods. Adherence to L3Harris WESCAM Supply Chain department policies, site business policies, and L3Harris Corporate policies is essential. The role also involves supporting Lean projects, working with Commodity Managers and Supplier Quality Engineers on recovery schedules, and assisting with dual sourcing, outsourcing, and supplier agreement negotiations.
