About The Position

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) has a unique combination of education, research, and clinical programs that encourages and supports teamwork and diversity. This position reports to the Director of Procurement and Travel or the Procurement Manager and is responsible for special projects assigned by them. The role involves analyzing purchasing patterns and history to determine cost-saving measures and processing various purchase transactions. It also includes managing the capital equipment process, assisting with the procurement card program, and troubleshooting issues within Workday. The Specialist ensures that standard methodologies are followed for all processes, analysis, reconciliation, and reporting, and that records are maintained as required. Compliance with Arkansas State Laws, DFA Policies, UA System Policies, and UAMS policies and procedures is essential.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field plus 3 years related experience or equivalent education and experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
  • Ability to work on a computer 6/8 hours per day
  • Ability to perform routine office functions including verbal communication, filing and light lifting
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Process Purchasing Transactions including but not limited to Requisitions, Purchase orders, Spend Authorizations, Expense Reports, and Match Exceptions.
  • Management of capital equipment purchase requisitions and/or purchase orders.
  • Process daily distributor reports and daily Procurement Spec productivity reports, which are relayed to Procurement Manager.
  • Management of procurement card program.
  • Analyzing purchasing patterns and history to determine cost savings measures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
