About The Position

The Contracting and Procurement Department is seeking a Procurement Officer to join the Technology Procurement Team responsible for leading the acquisition of technology hardware, software, software as a service and technology maintenance at departmental and citywide levels. This position reports to the Technology Procurement Manager and has primary responsibility for providing procurement and contracting expertise, consultation, and oversight of all activities related to the acquisition of technology solutions for the City of Charlotte. This position is responsible for performing all aspects of complex formal procurement and contracting activities related to the acquisition of hardware, software, software as a service and technology maintenance for the City of Charlotte. This includes supporting daily operations, working on the continuous improvement of processes, coordinating with the City Attorney’s Office on contract and negotiation issues, and ensuring compliance requirements.

Requirements

  • Background checks must be conducted on final internal or external candidate(s).
  • Background checks include reference checks, social security verification, education verification, criminal conviction record check, and, if applicable, a credit history check, sex offender registry and motor vehicle records check.
  • Background checks must be in compliance with all federal and state statutes, such as the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).
  • Candidates must provide written authorization before obtaining a criminal background report, motor vehicle records check or credit report.
  • Proper storage and disposal of information derived from background reports.
  • Final candidates must pass a pre-employment drug-screening test and physical examination.
  • During the selection process, candidates may be asked to take a skills test, and/or participate in other assessments.
