About The Position

The Procurement Manager is responsible for the planning and execution of Peak season year-round. They will be finding, executing and upholding commitments on all RXO freight, especially with respect to Peak season. The Procurement Manager will utilize those carriers and commitments to grow our Peak footprint. They will leverage carrier partnerships developed during and for Peak season into consistent year-round coverage of core RXO business. The Procurement Manager will work with Regional Managers to ensure proper preparation and communication occurs during Q1 – Q3 in order to execute Peak season successfully in Q4.

Responsibilities

  • Develop relationships with carriers’ higher-level contacts (terminal managers, VPs, etc.).
  • Effectively communicate with internal and external contacts.
  • Understand commitments & strategy of RXO through working with Senior Operations Managers on customer side, Senior Carrier Managers, Pricing Team, and leadership.
  • Coordinate carrier visits outside the office to strengthen RXO-carrier partnership, leveraging developed relationship for not only Peak business but consistent coverage of year-round RXO freight.
  • Execution of Strategic bids: setting targets, communicating needs and delivering on expectations.
  • Conversion of current first-right-of-refusal or ad hoc tendering to commitments.
  • Procuring capacity for lanes that are experiencing service issues or losses.
  • Providing accessibility to carriers and reps who have questions regarding commitments and contracts.
  • Making routing guide decisions on which carriers should be utilized as primary, secondary, or backup for consistent lanes, especially with respect to those involved in Peak Season.
  • Lane Ownership: holding reps and carriers accountable to commitments.
  • Continuing to feed and support Peak routing guide capacity.
  • Communicate with Regional Managers year-round to ensure Peak success.
