About The Position

The Procurement Manager role will lead procurement operations for a rapidly scaling business unit, ensuring that ThayerMahan secures the right materials, services, and equipment to support mission-critical programs. This will oversee the full procurement lifecycle from vendor engagement and negotiation to documentation control and process optimization. This role requires a confident, detail-oriented leader who understands supply chain strategy, contractual language, and vendor management. You will serve as a key liaison between Procurement, Finance, Logistics, Operations, and Legal, ensuring alignment, transparency, and efficiency across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, International Business, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in subcontract management, procurement leadership, or a similar supply chain role.
  • Strong understanding of PO/PSA negotiations, supply chain principles, and contractual/legal terminology.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote).
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a hybrid work environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and leadership capabilities.
  • US Citizenship is a requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead procurement activities and forecasting for a designated business unit, reporting directly to the Director of Project Finance and Procurement.
  • Collaborate closely with Finance, Logistics, Operations, and Project teams to ensure alignment on requirements, timelines, and budgets.
  • Oversee the preparation, routing, and execution of Purchase Orders and Professional Service Agreements.
  • Manage and prioritize a high volume of procurement requests (15+ active POs at a time).
  • Maintain continuous communication with AP, Finance, and Project teams regarding documentation, project codes, and quote details.
  • Drive short- and long-term procurement planning to support strategic business objectives.
  • Negotiate favorable terms with domestic and international vendors and coordinate with General Counsel on contractual matters.
  • Implement process improvements, cost-reduction initiatives, and procurement best practices.
  • Ensure accurate documentation control and maintain complete vendor records within ThayerMahan systems.
  • Support vendor engagement, including obtaining quotes, evaluating proposals, and assessing supplier performance.
  • Work collaboratively procurement staff and contribute to the development of procurement policies and procedures.
  • Uphold ThayerMahan’s core values and ensure compliance with internal standards and government requirements.
