About The Position

The Procurement Manager will lead and develop the BU’s Procurement Program Management team, overseeing both New Product Development (NPD) Program Managers and Sustaining Project Managers supporting the Business Unit’s portfolio. This leader will ensure strong execution capability, effective resource alignment, and consistent delivery of procurement activities that enable strategic growth, supply continuity, and operational performance. Operating within Copeland’s center‑led procurement framework, this role will execute established portfolio governance processes, maintain project visibility, and ensure BU initiatives align with enterprise sourcing strategies and supplier readiness requirements. The manager will work at the intersection of sourcing, engineering, operations, supplier quality, and manufacturing to drive successful new product launches, supplier transitions, cost‑reduction execution, and sustaining priorities. The ideal candidate will be a strong people leader and operational driver—capable of managing complex cross‑functional project portfolios, developing BU talent, and ensuring consistent application of procurement program management processes and tools defined by the center‑led organization. This position is critical to ensuring the BU’s product platforms launch on schedule, supplier transitions are executed effectively, and procurement remains a proactive partner in delivering BU business results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Engineering, Business, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in procurement, supplier development, program management, or strategic sourcing
  • 3+ years of leadership experience, including direct people management or team leadership
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, supplier capability development, and supply chain risk management
  • Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams and manage complex project portfolios within a structured governance framework
  • Strong strategic thinking and prioritization skills with the ability to translate enterprise sourcing strategies into BU execution plans
  • Excellent communication, executive presence, stakeholder management, and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience supporting supplier ramp-ups, new product introductions, and sustaining procurement initiatives
  • Ability to travel 10-15%, depending on project intensity

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in commodities such as Castings, Steel, Stampings, and Plastics
  • PMP certification
  • Experience contributing to or improving procurement program management processes (BU‑aligned phrasing)
  • Experience applying governance frameworks and portfolio management systems within a structured procurement organization
  • MBA or advanced degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Program Execution: Lead, coach, and develop BU Procurement Program team members, including NPD‑focused Program Managers and Sustaining Project Managers, ensuring strong execution capability.
  • Clarify BU‑specific roles and responsibilities, support development planning, and align resource allocation with BU priorities and enterprise procurement direction.
  • Oversee execution of BU NPD and sustaining procurement projects to ensure alignment with business objectives, timelines, and operational requirements.
  • Strengthen cross‑functional collaboration and drive timely resolution of issues impacting BU project execution or supplier readiness.
  • Portfolio Governance & Operational Excellence: Manage the BU procurement project portfolio to ensure alignment with enterprise sourcing strategies and effective execution of BU‑level initiatives.
  • Apply established governance processes, track project health and milestones, and provide BU‑specific reporting into enterprise dashboards.
  • Use standardized procurement program management tools, templates, and risk‑management practices defined by the center‑led organization.
  • Drive BU‑level continuous improvement to enhance execution efficiency, accountability, and delivery of procurement initiatives.
  • New Product Introduction & Sustaining Project Leadership: Execute supplier readiness and sourcing activities for BU new product launches, supplier transitions, and sustaining initiatives in alignment with center‑led sourcing strategies.
  • Coordinate supplier onboarding, qualification, and ramp‑up to ensure quality, capacity, cost, and delivery requirements are met for BU programs.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Operations to translate technical and operational needs into sourcing actions consistent with enterprise commodity strategies.
  • Lead BU‑level cross‑functional efforts supporting cost reduction, supply continuity, make‑versus‑buy execution, and commercialization activities defined by the center‑led procurement organization.
  • Strategic Supply Base Development: Execute supplier development initiatives within the BU in alignment with enterprise commodity strategies and center‑led procurement guidance.
  • Collaborate with Commodity Management and Supplier Quality to provide BU‑specific insights on supplier performance, risks, and capability gaps.
  • Conduct supplier readiness and capability assessments for BU programs and escalate systemic issues to the center‑led team.
  • Implement dual‑sourcing, localization, and risk‑mitigation plans developed by the center‑led procurement organization, ensuring continuity for BU operations.
