About The Position

BHJ USA, LLC. is a leading supplier of fresh/frozen meat blends to both the wet and dry pet food industries. We are seeking a motivated individual to perform a variety of tasks under the direction of the VP of Procurement. You will formulate and drive a consistent approach towards sourcing, purchasing and tendering activity within the business, ultimately ensuring that value for money is maximized and cost savings are generated.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree along with (3-5) years’ experience or equivalent education and/or experience
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, especially Excel)
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent negotiating skills
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to work well with all levels of internal management and staff, as well as outside clients and vendors
  • Ability to work as a part of a team and treat coworkers with respect
  • Sales knowledge
  • Solid business knowledge and understanding of contract negotiations
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain strategic relationships with key customers, suppliers, and Company plants by traveling to their sites or participating in trade shows
  • Represent company in negotiating contracts and formulating policies with suppliers
  • Locate vendors of materials, equipment or supplies, and interview them to determine product availability and terms of sales
  • Resolve vendor or contractor grievances, and claims against suppliers
  • Assist Commercial Manager and President on new import and/or export business
  • Collaborate with billing and transportation to ensure correct invoicing, price checks, and inventory valuations
  • Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance to ensure proper formulations, pricing structure, and that we are meeting customer product specifications
  • Analyze market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability
  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
  • Adhere to attendance guidelines of the company at assigned work location
  • Perform back-up functions for Commercial Manager on pricing, formulations, and new product procurement for top level customers
