About The Position

Parallel is a web infrastructure company whose products provide programmatic web access for AI agents. The Procurement Lead will build and lead the company’s procurement function as it scales. The role focuses on strategic, cost-conscious procurement, including negotiating compute commitments with cloud and infrastructure providers amid fast and difficult-to-forecast growth. It also owns procurement across software, services, and infrastructure, from intake through signature, as well as content and data partnership payouts. The Procurement Lead partners with finance, accounting, legal, and engineering, and helps hire the team as the function grows. Parallel works fully in person between its Palo Alto headquarters and San Francisco office.

Requirements

Experience as the first procurement lead at a high-growth technology company, building the function from scratch.
Personally negotiated large, complex deals across cloud, AI, data, and software, with demonstrable outcomes.
Understanding of compute economics, including reserved versus on-demand capacity, commitment sizing, and flexibility levers.
Experience owning the full procurement flow from request through contract and payment, with attention to clean accounting.
Ability to work effectively with teams and make forecasting and purchasing easier.

Responsibilities

Build and lead Parallel’s procurement function.
Negotiate compute arrangements with cloud and infrastructure providers, structuring commitments to accommodate fast, difficult-to-forecast growth.
Own vendor procurement across software, services, and infrastructure, from intake to signature.
Own content and data partnership payouts.
Partner closely with finance, accounting, legal, and engineering.
Help hire the procurement team as the function grows.
Use AI tools to work faster with a lean team and make forecasting and purchasing easier for other teams.
