Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Management Certificate or equivalent experience required.
  • 2 plus years of Buying Experience preferred, and understanding of procurement, logistics, and inventory management practices.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, experience in taking initiative and making appropriate decisions with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Interpersonal skills to develop and maintain effective business relationships within and outside the company.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other Office programs.

Nice To Haves

  • Retail operations/Marketing experience preferred or strong understanding of store operations and merchandising practices.
  • Knowledge of procurement systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing Distribution Center inventory across several specific specialized categories.
  • Strive to meet or exceed inventory turn goals and fill rate targets.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with department heads, division office personnel, suppliers, store operations and distribution center personnel to accomplish job functions.
  • Ensure proper understanding of promotional activity and adequate level of logistical support.
  • Manage targeted inventory levels and rotation of code dated products.
  • Negotiate logistical elements that improve cost and efficiency (work with vendors and transportation).
  • Evaluates suppliers’ offerings against key business criteria and product specifications.
  • Responsible for working with Logistics Coordinator to help manage the timely and efficient flow of goods throughout the supply chain.
  • Use various tools and resources to forecast and communicate weekly product needs for the Division.
  • Conduct post-promotional reviews to determine if requirements were met or if improvements were needed, develop solutions.
  • Complete and manage purchase orders using mainframe in-house systems.
  • Always obtain best product quality possible at competitive pricing.
  • Plan, forecast, and purchase pre-book needs to support promotions and seasonal needs.
  • Review and analyze daily and weekly reports to check fill rate, out of stocks, inventory levels & turns.
  • Perform system maintenance on items, suppliers, and purchase order as needed.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with brokers, vendors, store operations, distribution center and division office personnel.
  • Manage and approve accounts payable variances for assigned purchase orders, ensure items are invoiced at the correct cost.
  • Visit stores, as needed, to monitor programs, obtain feedback, and assess implementation effectiveness as needed of assigned product lines.
