About The Position

This position supports the Supply Section Mission and goals as the Procurement and Supply Specialist 3. All procurement staff in the Supply Section provide support to any bureau, division, section in the agency. This position provides primary support to the Forensic Laboratory Services Bureau (Specifically the Crime Lab Division), Aviation, and Fire Protection Bureau. This position conducts higher level, and more complicated procurements that are required to be competitively bid, or sole source acquisitions, or emergency procurements. This position acts as the primary contact and purchaser of commodities for the above listed Divisions/Units. This position also purchases commodities for various other divisions/ sections as required. This position serves as a backup for the Procurement and Supply Specialist 2’s (PSS2) assigned to the section. This position will purchase commodities following guidelines outlined by the Washington State Department of Enterprise Services (DES), The Washington State Office of Financial Management (OFM), state laws and regulations defined in the Revised Code of Washington (RCW) and Washington Administrative Code (WAC), as well as agency standards and policy.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two years experience as a Procurement and Supply Specialist 2 (full time experience as purchasing professional will substitute year for year)

Responsibilities

  • Conducts higher level, and more complicated procurements that are required to be competitively bid, or sole source acquisitions, or emergency procurements.
  • Acts as the primary contact and purchaser of commodities for the Forensic Laboratory Services Bureau, Aviation, and Fire Protection Bureau.
  • Purchases commodities for various other divisions/ sections as required.
  • Serves as a backup for the Procurement and Supply Specialist 2’s (PSS2) assigned to the section.
  • Reviews purchase requests for agency compliance.
  • Identifies procurement methodologies to maintain compliance with RCW's and DES procurement policies.
  • Originates and finalizes varying types of procurements to include but not limited to complex procurements, competitive solicitations and sole source procurements.
  • Researches new sources.
  • Communicates with customers and vendors to resolve problems.
