About The Position

To supervise students during the school day in various capacities and areas assigned by the building principal and also assist in main office when needed. The Proctor ensures the safety of students, maintains discipline, instructs students on proper conduct, and encourages good eating habits. They also assist with cafeteria duties, monitor students in various locations, and perform other duties as directed by the Building Principal.

  • Able to be exposed to various weather conditions

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safety of students
  • Observe rules of cleanliness, dress, and grooming
  • Instruct and direct students to designated tables, making utensils and condiments available
  • Aid students in case of difficulty
  • Maintain discipline, instruct students on proper conduct, and encourage good eating habits
  • Exercise consistent, firm control
  • Maintain discipline and instruct students on proper conduct on the playground
  • Conduct orderly dismissal of students
  • Observe proper handling of dishes, utensils, and waste disposal
  • Ensure that students remain in their seats, except in emergencies
  • Maintain communication with office and/or clinic regarding student injuries and/or emergencies
  • Fill out required paperwork
  • See that napkins, silverware, straws, and condiments are in ample supply during serving of students
  • Help restock a la carte items and general cleanup as time permits
  • Ensure that students do not trade food
  • Permit normal talking between students, but yelling is not acceptable
  • Handle minor behavior issues
  • Enforce the school Behavior Program
  • Be trained in basic first aid, safety, and CPR
  • Report continual poor behavior to the principal
  • Interact in a positive manner with staff, students, parents and community
  • Wash off tables and chairs after each group and promote cleanliness
  • Monitor and assist in cleanup in cafeteria
  • Check restrooms when necessary
  • Monitor students in cafeteria, recess, office, bus and/or hall duty when requested
  • Enforce all school policies and regulations
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Building Principal
  • Work with the Cafeteria Manager as needed
  • Serve as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as responsible citizens
  • Comply with all Louisville Board of Education policies and procedures
