About The Position

The State of Connecticut, Teachers' Retirement Board (TRB), is seeking to hire a Processing Technician in Hartford. This is an anticipated vacancy. Connecticut's Teachers’ Retirement Board administers retirement and health benefits to the State’s retired teachers, their survivors, and beneficiaries. The TRB maintains over 52,900 active accounts and provides approximately $2.2B in pension payments to 39,650 retirees annually. We are recruiting for an anticipated vacancy for a Processing Technician. In this role, you will perform complex clerical processing functions including beneficiary forms, demographic information changes, service purchases, withdrawals, vouchers, scanning and mail verification processing in Datacap. You will also respond to internal and external inquiries for information and assist through call center duties and case management through Customer Relationship Management (CRM). Additional duties may include assisting with special clerical projects.

Requirements

  • Three (3) years of clerical work experience.
  • One (1) year of the General Experience must have involved a full range of clerical duties.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex clerical processing functions including beneficiary forms, demographic information changes, service purchases, withdrawals, vouchers, scanning and mail verification processing in Datacap.
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries for information and assistance.
  • Assist through call center duties and case management through Customer Relationship Management (CRM).
  • Assist with special clerical projects.
  • Examine incoming materials for accuracy, completeness and conformance to state statutes and regulations.
  • Make corrections and/or additions to incoming materials.
  • Devise follow up procedures to efficiently and effectively carry out activities.
  • Initiate and maintain communications with a wide variety of resources to verify information and complete transactions including other state employees, offices and outside officials such as attorneys, judicial and social welfare officials or representatives.
  • Interpret and apply state statutes and regulations relating to the particular processing service.
  • Make decisions as to case status, transaction permissibility or admissibility.
  • Set up and maintain office procedures, filing and indexing systems and forms for office use and to meet recurring needs.
  • Maintain calendars of due dates and initiate recurring work or special clerical projects accordingly.
  • Maintain records and logs.
  • Prepare status or statistical reports related to processing function.
  • Assist in maintaining general files in support of processing function.
  • Initiate correspondence in carrying out duties.
  • Type correspondence, forms, file documentation, etc. in support of processing function.
  • Process fees and maintain financial records.
  • Lead lower level clerical employees assisting in carrying out processing responsibilities.
  • Perform related duties as required.
