About The Position

The Processing Assistant IV serves as a primary point of contact for clients accessing services through the Department of Social Services and provides administrative support to Adult & Family Services and Children's Services staff. Responsibilities include greeting and directing clients, screening inquiries, maintaining paper and electronic case records, entering data into PATH NC and other automated systems, scheduling appointments and meetings, processing mail and other documents, coordinating client transportation, and assisting with special projects and community resource activities. The position serves as a backup receptionist and switchboard operator and performs other administrative duties to support efficient service delivery. This position requires frequent interaction with clients, community partners, and agency staff while maintaining confidentiality and providing exceptional customer service.

Requirements

  • Significant knowledge of office procedures, methods, and practices
  • Knowledge of customer service principles
  • Knowledge of correct grammar, vocabulary, spelling, and office terminology to prepare, proofread, and maintain correspondence, reports, records, and other materials
  • Ability to learn and independently apply departmental policies, procedures, and program requirements
  • Ability to review and process information accurately
  • Ability to maintain confidential information
  • Ability to perform data entry and records management using automated systems
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple assignments
  • Ability to coordinate workflow
  • Ability to complete tasks accurately within established timeframes while managing frequent interruptions
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, coworkers, community partners, and the public, exercising sound judgment, courtesy, tact, and professionalism when interacting with individuals who may be experiencing difficult or sensitive situations
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Ability to provide administrative support that contributes to the efficient delivery of agency services
  • Proficiency in the use of computers and standard office software
  • Graduation from high school
  • Demonstrated possession of knowledges, skills and abilities gained through at least two years of office assistant/secretarial experience
  • Must possess a valid NC Driver's license
  • Must meet qualifications as outlined in Sampson County's Vehicle Fleet Policy
