About The Position

Seeking a process engineering technician to work closely with process, project and tooling engineering along with production to coordinate activities connected with technical developments, scheduling and resolving design and test problems, or to implement new product launches on the production floor. This role involves hands-on process technical support on the production floor, assisting with new tool & process tryouts, analyzing tool design and specifications, and supporting operators with technical problem solving and recommending creative technical solutions. The technician will perform duties such as conducting tests, reporting data, adjusting equipment, troubleshooting equipment, and diagnosing and recommending actions from findings.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Five years’ experience in roll forming or metal forming
  • 3-5 years’ experience in related technical engineering or support role
  • Experience with computer software (Microsoft Office, CAD, Manufacturing software)
  • US Person as defined by ITAR/EAR

Nice To Haves

  • Two-year technical degree
  • Two years’ experience tryout or R&D
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Manual Mill & Lathe, Tube Bending, Inventor, PLC, Electrical Controls, Programming, PFMEA, SPC, GD&T, Quality Certification Systems.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Process/Project Engineering, Tool Engineering and Production to launch & maintain the new frame rail project into production.
  • Investigate and develop technical countermeasures related to any related ongoing product or process issues.
  • Engage in hands-on process technical support on the production floor.
  • Assist with new tool & process tryouts, analyzes tool design and specifications.
  • Support operators with technical problem solving and recommending creative technical solutions.
  • Perform a variety of duties such as conducting tests, reporting data, adjusting equipment, troubleshooting equipment, diagnosing and recommending actions from findings.
  • Provide process operations support with hands on troubleshooting and development.
  • Assist in process optimization.
  • Analyze data to improve process tool and process quality.
  • Verify manufacturing standards, actual versus estimates.
  • Perform process capability and uptime study to meet pre-determined goals prior to formal handoff of project to manufacturing.
  • Assist Maintenance Team on repeat machine problems.
  • Implement CI/Cost reduction and safety projects.
  • Research and perform trials on supplies and consumables that will improve cost & quality.
  • Investigate and coordinate tooling improvements, repairs and replacements.
  • Monitor Standard Tooling Inventories to ensure appropriate quantities are on hand.
  • Facilitate initial manufacturing review of set-up books coordinate ongoing updates.
  • Provide technical support problem solving expertise to manufacturing, as appropriate.
