About The Position

Corning is a world leader in glass, ceramic, and materials science, known for pushing the boundaries of what's possible. Our Optical Communications segment has evolved into a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions. This segment is divided into two main product groups: carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network group focuses on optical-based communication infrastructure for services like video, data, and voice. The enterprise network group provides optical-based communication networks for businesses, governments, and individuals. The Role Purpose is to support fiber optic cable manufacturing operations through process improvement, troubleshooting, equipment support, and engineering project execution. This role involves collaboration with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to enhance safety, quality, and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Ability to learn new technologies and processes quickly.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • 2-year technical degree in EE, CS, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of manufacturing experience preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • Knowledge of CAD, Minitab, or Six Sigma tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Create weekly engineering reports and assist with daily reject disposition activities.
  • Provide technical troubleshooting and problem-solving support for production operations.
  • Support equipment installation, commissioning, startup, and process improvements.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including SOPs, PMs, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Assist with training production personnel on new equipment, products, and processes.
  • Support the transfer of new technologies and manufacturing processes into production.
  • Monitor production performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
