About The Position

Dow has an exciting job opportunity for a Process Technician at the Bayport facility located in La Porte, Texas. Dow is looking for top-caliber, technically capable Process Technicians who embrace change, adapt fast, make decisions quickly, possess self-confidence and are lifelong learners. These positions require a high degree of dedication to safety and environmental stewardship. In this role, you will utilize operations knowledge and experience, to proactively operate the plant in a safe, reliable, and optimal manner. You will work with Shift Team members to efficiently anticipate and resolve unplanned events within the capabilities of the shift team and effectively escalates issues that cannot be resolved to the appropriate support roles.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED and one of the following is required: Five (5) or more years of industrial experience.
  • Associate’s degree or higher in process technology, science or engineering related field.
  • In lieu of a degree, Dow will consider those with three (3) or more years of relevant military service.
  • Willing and able to work a rotating shift and overtime as required.
  • Must have a current, valid US Driver's License.
  • Able to manage the physical and mental demand of monitoring control systems as a board operator during routine and non-routine operations.
  • Able to meet physical requirements for the emergency response team.
  • 3-year commitment to join Houston Hub Emergency Response Team.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.
  • No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a Process Operator at a Chemical Plant, Refinery, or equivalent.
  • Process Technology Certification.
  • Advanced mechanical troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

  • Performing routine operation of basic control systems and devices to monitor levels, temperatures, pressures and flow rates and transfer of products.
  • Lift hoses, bolt flanges and operate valves and similar equipment including the proper clearing and isolation of equipment.
  • Follow operating discipline, procedures and practices to ensure a safe and efficient operation of assigned duties.
  • Control, monitor and make necessary adjustments on control systems and manually operated equipment.
  • Troubleshoot process, product quality, safety, and environmental problems and identify equipment requiring maintenance.
  • Ensure safe and efficient performance of maintenance and project work.
  • Act as a resource for other Technicians on job tasks and prioritization of work activities.
  • Take ownership for the accurate completion of all assigned tasks.
  • Must certify on multiple roles which may include working as an inside Control Board Operator, Outside Operator or in a Relief Operator/Technician capacity, covering vacancies on multiple shifts.
  • Logistics activities including drumming, loading and offloading tank trucks or railcars.
  • Complete all duties as assigned with a high degree of dedication to safety and environmental stewardship.
  • Join Houston Hub Emergency Response Team.
  • Able to certify as both inside and outside operator.
