Process Technician I (Chemical Operator) - 2nd Shift

About The Position

Process Technician I conducts activities associated with Cambrex’s GMP Kilo and Pilot Plant, including material handling, equipment maintenance, utilities operations, and chemical process support. The position works with scientific staff to complete chemistry projects and handles hazardous materials and wastes, including recognizing related emergency situations. The role is based primarily in a production setting within a chemical manufacturing environment.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience handling hazardous materials, including flammable liquids, compressed gases, and toxic solids.
Writing skills for procedures and reports.
Basic chemical processing skills, including weighing, calculations, GMP documentation, and vacuum and pressure operations.
Forklift and other basic material-handling experience.
Ability to perform active work, occasionally exerting up to 50 pounds of force, and regularly walk and stand.
Ability to use ladders and access roofs when required.
Visual acuity, talking, and fingering abilities.
Ability to use basic personal protective equipment, including supplied-air respirators, negative-pressure respirators, gloves, safety glasses, and shielding clothing.

Nice To Haves

Three or more years of experience in a GMP chemical pharmaceutical pilot plant environment.
Five or more years of experience in a chemical manufacturing plant.

Responsibilities

Operate manufacturing equipment, including batch reactors, filters, dryers, and pumps.
Move materials between the warehouse and process suites.
Clean and maintain equipment and facilities in GMP and large-scale production areas.
Work with scientific staff to complete chemistry projects.
Handle and manage hazardous materials and wastes, communicating and applying relevant written and verbal information.
Recognize emergency situations involving hazardous materials and wastes.
