About The Position

Crown Equipment Corporation, a global leader in lift truck manufacturing, is seeking a Process Technician I for their Lathes operations. This entry-level technical role is dedicated to a specific process or production cell. The technician will participate in engineering design reviews for new and existing products, collaborating with engineering to define work methods and sequences for new product and process development. Key responsibilities include supporting daily shop floor operations, troubleshooting and resolving production and quality issues, and implementing process improvements. The role also involves performing analysis, data collection, documenting operator standard work, and analyzing, recommending, and implementing layout and process flow improvements. Additionally, the technician will develop workstation and line layouts, balance work content, determine labor requirements, establish material handling and storage solutions, create process documentation, and provide operator training as needed. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • 0-4 years of related experience.
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Must be mechanically inclined and have good computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office and Mechanical Drawing Software.
  • Good communication, problem solving, and interpersonal skills required.
  • Per 8-hour shift.
  • Sit 8 hours and stand 0 hours.
  • Typical office environment (low noise level, limited exposure hot/cold temperatures, dust, fumes, and vibrations).
  • Regular interaction with others and performs a degree of independent work.
  • Physical and mental demands are akin to the majority of office positions with prolonged periods of sitting and prolonged use of a computer/keyboard.
  • Infrequent lifting, walking and climbing stairs.
  • Occasional use of office equipment (copiers, printers, etc.).
  • Must exhibit good communication and interpersonal skills amongst shop floor and support staff.
  • Execute tasks per direction given, team member for projects.
  • Must have good hands on expertise in assigned manufacturing process.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional skills and training may be required such as CNC programming, CAD layout, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (G, D&T), Lean Manufacturing principles, PLC programming, robotics, electrical and electronic troubleshooting, process capability theory and statistical process control (SPC).
  • PLC programming and electrical troubleshooting skills are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Entry level technical resource dedicated to a process or production cell.
  • Participate in Engineering design reviews for new and existing products.
  • Work with Engineering to define work methods and work sequences in the development of new products and processes.
  • Support daily shop floor operations, troubleshoot, and resolve production and quality issues, and implement process improvements.
  • Perform analysis, data collection, and document operator standard work.
  • Analyze, recommend, and implement layout and process flow improvements.
  • Develop workstation and line layouts, balancing of work content, determination of labor requirements, material handling and storage solutions, process documentation, and operator training as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
