About The Position

Hawkins, Inc. is a formulator, manufacturer, blender, distributor, and sales agent for thousands of industrial chemicals and reagent grade laboratory chemicals sold to municipalities and businesses throughout the Central United States. The Process Tech will operate, handle, and maintain production equipment safely while achieving production and quality standards. This role involves knowing the equipment and process operation; handling, storing, transferring, and transporting chemical material; operating and monitoring continuous and batch processes, both manual and automated, by adjusting variables such as temperature, pressure, feed rate, and sampling in accordance with SOPs. The position requires communicating compliance, safety, and equipment needs, accurately filling out required paperwork including operating data, and performing routine minor maintenance to process equipment and instrumentation. The role also involves applying all product quality and safety standards, reporting any product safety incidents, and maintaining housekeeping standards. The ability to work independently while adhering to all company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and complying with all applicable Federal, State, and Corporate environmental, safety, and health regulations is essential. The position may also require participation as a member of the Emergency Response Team in Level A PPE and achieving and maintaining 24 Hour HAZWOPER certification (exclusions may apply for specific locations).

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 6 months experience as a chemical operator or equivalent experience
  • Ability to safely operate an industrial fork truck required
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate and understand (both written and verbal) complex and/or technical operations and procedures
  • Ability to comply with all mandatory Environmental, Health, & Safety and process specific training
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of MS Office required

Nice To Haves

  • Prior MRP or ERP experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Operate, handle, and maintain production equipment safely while achieving production and quality standards.
  • Know the equipment and process operation; handle, store, transfer, and transport chemical material.
  • Operate and monitor continuous and batch processes, both manual and automated.
  • Adjust variables such as temperature, pressure, feed rate, and sampling in accordance with SOPs.
  • Communicate compliance, safety, and equipment needs as personally identified.
  • Accurately and completely fill out required paperwork, including recording operating data such as process conditions, test results, instrument readings, shipping and receiving paperwork, plant data sheets, environmental reports, inventory sheets, and inspection reports.
  • Provide routine minor maintenance to process equipment and instrumentation.
  • Apply all product quality and safety standards and report any product safety incidents to the Supervisor, Manager, or designated back-up.
  • Safely operate independently while adhering to all company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Comply with all applicable Federal, State, and Corporate environmental, safety, and health regulations.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards.
  • Perform other miscellaneous related duties as needed.
  • Participate as a member of the Emergency Response Team in Level A PPE (exclusions may apply for specific locations).
  • Achieve and maintain 24 Hour HAZWOPER certification (exclusions may apply for specific locations).
