About The Position

The Process Safety Engineer Intern supports the development, implementation, and sustainment of Micron’s Process Safety Management (PSM) program at the new Boise site. Boise EHS supports the safe operation of Specialty Gas and Chemical Systems for semiconductor high-volume manufacturing. The intern partners with process safety engineers and multidisciplinary teams to identify, mitigate, and manage risk while assisting with engineering activities and PSM initiatives. The role uses Micron-approved AI tools to improve productivity and problem-solving, with all AI-enabled outputs independently reviewed and validated.

Requirements

Basic understanding of schematic drawings, P&IDs, or similar technical renderings.
Basic background in process safety engineering calculations.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
Access to reliable transportation.
Currently pursuing a BS, MS, or advanced degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Environmental Engineering, or a related field with a focus on process safety.
Must be a current student and not graduate before September 2026.

Responsibilities

Participate in PSM projects and program initiatives.
Attend Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) sessions for selected systems.
Support collection and organization of Process Safety Information (PSI).
Work with process safety engineers to track and close PHA action items.
Assist engineering teams with process safety audits and safety calculations for new equipment.
Present a summary of internship work to senior staff.
Use Micron-approved AI tools to improve productivity and problem-solving, ensuring AI-enabled outputs are independently reviewed and validated.
