About The Position

C-P Systems is seeking an experienced piping designer who is looking for a part-time role, potentially stepping back from full-time work but still wanting to engage in design. This position involves hands-on design on active projects and mentoring less experienced designers. The work is flexible, ranging from occasional consultation to 20-30 hours per week. C-P Systems is a process mechanical engineering consulting firm specializing in piping design, P&ID development, process engineering, laser scanning, and construction documentation for industrial clients across the United States. Requirements

Extensive career experience (10-15 years +) in industrial or chemical process piping design
Strong grounding in plant layout, constructability, and applicable codes and standards
Ability to work independently in a remote setting
Interest in reviewing other people’s work and teaching what you know
US Citizenship (required by some of our customers)

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with Autodesk AutoCAD Plant 3D, ReCap, Navisworks, and Inventor, or Intergraph SmartPlant P&ID and Smart 3D is not required, but a strong piping design and industrial background can be trained on the software.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with clients and engineers to understand project requirements.
3D modeling of process equipment, instrumentation, and piping.
Review drawings, models, and construction packages before they are issued.
Work through layout and constructability problems with our engineers and designers.
Mentor less experienced designers on field realities, software use, and project design management.
Participate in design reviews with customers, typically in Navisworks.
Work with the engineering team to model processes, with the end deliverable being a complete mechanical bid package for construction.
