About The Position

As a Process Operator at a Starbucks roasting plant, you will operate and support manufacturing processes while maintaining safety, sanitation, product quality, and production goals. You will monitor and troubleshoot equipment and process interruptions, conduct quality sampling and analysis, document production and process data, and coordinate with manufacturing partners and supervisors. The role also supports food safety programs, process improvement, equipment maintenance planning, and training of other operators. The position works variable shifts to support business needs.

Requirements

High school diploma/GED or four years of U.S. military service.
Ability to operate manual and automated batch process equipment.
Ability to apply multidisciplinary business principles and practices to cross-functional projects and activities.
Basic math skills.
Proficient computer skills, such as Microsoft Office.
Ability to adapt and learn quickly in a flexible work environment with changing daily responsibilities.
Ability to follow verbal direction and communicate plant process status to leadership and other partners.
Ability to understand written policies, guidelines, specifications, and safety standards.
Ability to interpret raw data and make real-time process decisions.
Technical aptitude for troubleshooting process upsets, making adjustments, and problem solving.
Ability to gather, record, and report operational cost, safety, and quality metrics through manual or automated systems.
Ability to perform quality tests using analytical tools.
Ability to work with a diverse team.
Ability to work in accordance with safety, quality, and sanitation standards, policies, and procedures.
Ability to work variable shifts to support business needs.
One to three years of manufacturing experience.

Nice To Haves

Experience in a regulated food/beverage or chemical manufacturing environment, such as a continuous wet process.
Experience with wastewater systems.
Familiarity with food safety regulatory requirements and global standards, including Preventive Controls for Human Food (FDA Code of Federal Regulations) and the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI).
Experience with GFSI certification schemes such as BRC and/or SQF.

Responsibilities

Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment; participate in GMP audits and corrective actions; and perform daily sanitation tasks.
Isolate and lock out equipment and write safety permits as required.
Troubleshoot process interruptions, identify root causes, and inform manufacturing partners and supervisors of machine performance irregularities to limit downtime and scrap.
Maintain environmental parameters to ensure permit compliance.
Monitor and document soluble coffee quality using analytical tools; pull samples, conduct lab analysis, adjust processes to specifications, and collect and review batch records.
Complete Autonomous Maintenance responsibilities and generate work requests using the maintenance planning program.
Participate in process improvement activities and maintain scheduled throughput to meet reliability and budget goals.
Prepare SOPs for new processes or operations as needed and train other process operators as needed.
Document changes to center-lined parameters and recommend new process parameters through appropriate channels.
Maintain daily production reports and exchange daily information with others.
Monitor the main load-out area and operate mobile equipment as needed.
Conduct pre-shift equipment and plant inspections and accurately complete required paperwork.
Follow safety guidelines and procedures, including PPE and Lock Out Tag Out, and reinforce safe practices with others.
Support food safety, legality, and quality programs; follow good manufacturing practices, Food Safety Preventative Controls, product specifications, and quality procedures.
Perform other duties in support of business objectives and Starbucks Mission & Values.
