About The Position

The Process Operator works in the Process Department operating Deodorizer or Refinery systems to produce Crisco vegetable oil and shortening. The role currently involves an 8-hour shift on second or third shift, with a potential change to a 12-hour shift. Entry pay is $27.55 per hour, with advancement potential within 12–18 months to $37.68 per hour. Once fully qualified, the employee would earn $40.78 per hour plus a $2.00 premium, in addition to shift differential.

Requirements

• High school degree or equivalent required.
• Use computers and PLCs in a food-processing manufacturing environment.
• Pass a math aptitude assessment and become qualified as a mechanic or E&I.
• Read and interpret SOPs, process flow diagrams, safety rules, GMPs, and general instructions.
• Have good communication skills and the ability to carry out oral and written instructions using common-sense understanding.
• Meet the physical requirements, including standing and walking at least 50% of the time, lifting up to 50 pounds, frequent squatting or kneeling and bending, working in hot and cold environments and around heights, passing a colorblind test, and passing respirator testing.

Nice To Haves

• Three or more years of related manufacturing experience or equivalent technical/vocational experience.
• Experience working with processing equipment.
• Advanced degree.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; high motivation and responsibility; and ability to work well in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Follow company safety rules and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
• Monitor and accurately record temperatures, pressures, and flow rates, watching for upward or downward trends.
• Produce high-quality products safely and healthfully.
• Work as part of a team and assist fellow employees as needed.
• Load and unload trucks and railcars.
• Perform analytical testing using laboratory instruments.
• Perform required preventative maintenance and assist with troubleshooting potential issues.
