Process Operator Trainee - Hydromet Utility Crew
About The Position
The Process Operator Trainee supports the Operations and/or Maintenance groups and receives training to safely operate industrial processing equipment at Freeport-McMoRan’s Safford operations in southeastern Arizona. The role includes housekeeping and physical area work, operating processing and mobile equipment, and assisting with maintenance activities. Other duties may be assigned. Safford operations has operated since 2007 and is described as a zero-discharge facility focused on advanced technologies, sustainable practices, safety, and environmental stewardship. This role may involve a non-standard schedule, including shift work, in a 24/7, 365-day operation. Candidates may need to pass a medical exam and must pass required training and testing.
Requirements
- At least three months of experience in mining/manufacturing, industrial operations, commercial construction, commercial landscaping, or commercial agriculture.
- Complete required academic and practical competencies, including Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where applicable, and demonstrate the required aptitude.
- Demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills and pass a written assessment where required; the assessment may cover skills, abilities, academic knowledge, and safety.
- Understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures in English.
- Communicate in English regarding job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards.
- Pass all required training and/or testing.
- May be required to pass a medical exam.
- Submit to mandatory pre-employment drug testing and ongoing drug and alcohol testing as allowed by applicable laws.
