About The Position

Micron Technology’s Construction Engineering team delivers infrastructure for semiconductor manufacturing sites, partnering with design firms, contractors, vendors, and internal engineering teams to support safe, constructible, coordinated projects that meet demanding technical standards. As a Process Mechanical Engineer, you will provide technical leadership and oversight of third-party process mechanical design for major construction projects. You will manage design development for process piping and industrial equipment, resolve technical and constructability challenges, and help ensure systems are designed for safe, reliable, and efficient operation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of process mechanical engineering experience, including at least 2 years coordinating third-party design or managing design processes for process piping, HVAC, or industrial equipment.
  • Knowledge of process mechanical systems and applicable codes and standards, including ASME B31.3, ASHRAE, SEMI S2/S6, IFGC, and IMC.
  • Experience reviewing P&IDs, specifications, engineering calculations, and 3D models using AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, or similar tools.
  • Strong project management, communication, and problem-solving skills, with experience coordinating design firms, contractors, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams.

Nice To Haves

  • PE, LEED AP, CMfgE, or other relevant professional certification.
  • Experience supporting semiconductor, pharmaceutical, data center, or other high-tech construction projects with process mechanical systems.
  • Experience with BIM coordination, clash detection, PLC/SCADA systems, Pipe Stress Analysis, system hydraulics, or Pipe-Flo.
  • Knowledge of sustainable design practices, including energy-efficient mechanical systems and process optimization to reduce resource consumption.
  • Proficiency using AI and AI-enabled tools to improve engineering workflows, technical analysis, and work efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate third-party design of process mechanical systems, including compressed air, process cooling water, industrial water, non-specialty gases, pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, and related equipment.
  • Review P&IDs, equipment specifications, calculations, layouts, and 3D models for compliance with project requirements and applicable engineering standards.
  • Evaluate system performance, constructability, reliability, safety, and integration, including flow, pressure, thermal performance, and coordination with ultrapure water, chemical, gas, and other systems.
  • Coordinate with construction teams to resolve design issues, manage technical risk, and maintain project schedules.
  • Support BIM coordination, construction implementation, commissioning, testing, equipment validation, and system startup while ensuring compliance with applicable safety and regulatory requirements.

Benefits

  • Choice of medical, dental, and vision plans.
  • Programs to help protect income in the event of illness or injury.
