About The Position

INSTALLS, MAINTAINS, AND REPAIRS MACHINERY, EQUIPMENT, AND PHYSICAL STRUCTURES IN A FOOD PROCESSING PLANT DESIGNED TO PRODUCE FROZEN POTATO PRODUCTS.

Requirements

  • One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Advance knowledge of the factory equipment.
  • Minimum of one year experience in a maintenance position.
  • Must have their own set of hand tools (on good quality, list ava up upon request).
  • Must be able to work with a minimum of supervision.
  • Must also demonstrate the ability to maintain the level of performance.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and peers.
  • Ability to add subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must study a total of 19 "TPC Training Systems" manuals and successfully pass a multiple-choice written test scoring at least 70% or better to upgrade into Maintenance II.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for working in a safe and orderly manner while in the plant on the plant property.
  • Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment.
  • Listens for unusual sounds and views machines and equipment to detect malfunctions and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.
  • Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
  • Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
  • Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment.
  • Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related steam and refrigeration, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
  • Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
  • Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathe, mill, grinder, and drills, to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures and tools.
  • Must have worked as maintenance I for a specific period of time as outlined in the maintenance II requirements outline before having the ability to test.
  • Performs others as assigned.
