This role involves establishing and supervising processes such as performance improvement and clinical documentation to ensure the highest quality of services for every patient. The evaluation of practice considers patient outcomes, cost-benefit analysis of care, and patient access to the healthcare system. The position contributes to internal strategic planning and the implementation of continuous quality improvement programs. As the BCH Children’s Surgery Performance Improvement (PI) Nurse, you will be responsible for data collection, analysis, and performance improvement activities for patients under 18, supporting the American College of Surgeons Children’s Surgery Verification Level I Programs at both BCH San Francisco and BCH Oakland. These programs are part of the BCH Perioperative Department, fostering a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to enhance pediatric surgical quality and safety, guided by Level 1 ACS standards. You will partner with the Children’s Surgery Program Manager to lead initiatives focused on optimizing patient outcomes, proactively identifying patient safety and system issues, and implementing evidence-based practice improvements. This role demands a high level of clinical judgment, creativity, organization, and prioritization. You will collaborate with pediatric physicians, surgeons, anesthesiologists, and multidisciplinary teams to support BCH Hospitals in system-wide and cross-bay performance improvement through project coordination and execution.
