About The Position

The Process Engineering Manager is responsible for the technical leadership of a large project with multiple areas and Project Engineers. This role supports the Project Manager in managing the project performance of the engineering team concerning cost, schedule, and client satisfaction, working under minimal supervision. Key responsibilities include managing technical issues, coordinating with clients and the project management team, reviewing reports, managing engineering budgets and schedules, developing project-specific engineering procedures, coordinating scope definition documents, leading inter-discipline coordination, reviewing 3D models for coordination and loss prevention, and ensuring overall quality control of engineering work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Biochemical, or Petroleum Engineering from an accredited university.
  • 15 or more years of relevant industrial experience in process design engineering and management.
  • Knowledge of the Hargrove project execution procedures.
  • Knowledge and application of company business standards and good practices.
  • Knowledge and application of company engineering standards and project controls tools.
  • Ability to lead a team to deliver on commitments.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the function of all engineering disciplines, procurement, and construction processes.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in complex technical issues coordination and resolution.
  • Ability to manage client relationships in complex situations.
  • Ability to relate easily to others in the business community such as customers, suppliers, contractors, government, professional and trade associations.
  • Ability to handle stress with poise.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership for a large project with multiple areas and Project Engineers.
  • Support the Project Manager in managing project performance of the engineering team with respect to cost, schedule, and Client satisfaction.
  • Inform the Hargrove Project Manager of all technical issues, decisions, and problems encountered on project.
  • Coordinate with Client on technical design issues.
  • Coordinate with the Project Management Team (PM, Construction Manager, Procurement Manager, Quality Manager, Project Controls Lead, and Project Engineers) on execution issues.
  • Review Project Engineer reports for the various areas of the project.
  • Support PM in managing engineering budgets and schedule, and facilitating identification, estimating, and documentation of changes in scope.
  • Support PM in weekly and monthly reporting of engineering status and issues.
  • Support PM in the planning, scheduling, and forecasting of engineering resources with Project Engineers, Project Discipline Leads, and Department Resource Leaders.
  • Support PM in discipline awareness of man-hours and associated estimate basis, TIC estimate quantities, and tracking against these for scope change recognition.
  • Develop or facilitate development of project-specific engineering and design procedures, including obtaining proper approvals if deviating from Client or Hargrove procedures.
  • Coordinate and issue documents that define the project scope (e.g., Scope & Criteria documents, Engineering Execution Plans supporting the PEP, etc.).
  • Lead Inter-Discipline and inter-area coordination by resolving design issues among/between disciplines and Area Project Engineers.
  • For 3D modeling projects, regularly review the model focusing on coordination between area teams, loss prevention issues crossing disciplines, and ensuring clash detection and resolution.
  • Ensure overall quality control of engineering work.
