About The Position

Corning's Environmental Technologies segment manufactures ceramic substrates and filter products for emissions control in mobile and stationary applications around the world. This position involves determining the manufacturability of products and improving the effectiveness and cost of production processes. This includes evaluating methods, equipment, layout, workflow, time standards, capacity utilization, process/equipment improvements, and process control systems. It may also involve applying knowledge of physical phenomena to achieve specified product and process characteristics, as well as managing organizational health and safety systems, procedures, and programs.

Requirements

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Math, Physics, or a related field.
3-5 years of manufacturing experience.
Solid understanding of fundamental engineering principles.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Results oriented and high level of dedication.
Able to work in any stage of innovation and handle risk of failure.
Aim to learn new technologies and processes quickly.

Responsibilities

Designs and plans layout for processes such as hardening, washing, laminating, etching, engraving, polishing, plating, and other material-processing operations.
Plans sequence of operations and specifies procedures for cutting, shaping, and otherwise preparing basic material.
Exercises judgment in compromising between conflicting requirements, economic evaluation of methods, and operator effectiveness and comfort.
Develops and refines software programs essential for system functionality and performance.
Conducts tests and measurements throughout stages of production to determine control over variables like temperature, density, specific gravity, pressure, and viscosity.
Establishes and submits processing requirements for the design and acquisition of processing equipment.
Receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals to meet objectives.
Provides guidance to subordinates to achieve goals in accordance with established policies.
Participates in the assembly and testing of measurement systems to ensure they meet quality and performance standards.
Manages, through subordinate supervisors, the coordination of activities of a section or department with responsibility for results in terms of costs, methods, and employees.
