Location: Fridley, MN Department: Technical Our Internship Experience includes: 12-week paid program beginning the end of May to mid-August to gain insight and knowledge in your field. Interactive orientation and events with skilled professionals in your field, including managers, directors, and CEO. Multiple networking, volunteer and fun events – both virtual and in-person. Impactful projects that make a difference internally and externally for H.B. Fuller. End of summer final presentation to showcase your career development with support from managers and peers. Position Overview: The Process Engineering Intern supports manufacturing, maintenance, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives within the Fridley facility. This role provides hands-on experience in a production environment by leading projects that improve equipment reliability, operational efficiency, safety, product quality, and data-driven decision making. The intern will collaborate with production, maintenance, quality, engineering, and EHS teams to identify opportunities, implement solutions, and deliver sustainable improvements that support plant performance and business objectives.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
  • Rising junior or senior standing in one of the listed engineering disciplines.
  • Comfortable working in a production or manufacturing environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AutoCAD and Minitab software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated interest in process improvement, safety, or quality engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Support Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, quality, productivity, and operational efficiency.
  • Assist with maintenance and reliability projects, including preventive maintenance optimization, asset management, and critical spare parts strategies.
  • Analyze production, maintenance, and quality data to identify trends, solve problems, and drive sustainable operational improvements.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including SOPs, work instructions, equipment drawings, process flow diagrams, and P&IDs.
  • Lead cross-functional projects across operations, maintenance, quality, and safety, presenting recommendations and results to site leadership.
