About The Position

Encapsys, now a part of Milliken & Company, is seeking student co-ops for the 2027 calendar year to join their team in Appleton, WI. This is a competitively paid co-op position offered to students in a Chemical Engineering, Material Science/Engineering, or Chemistry program. Co-ops will also receive a special benefits package including a housing allowance and paid time off. Encapsys operates in the specialty chemicals industry and is a global leader in encapsulation technologies with over 75 encapsulation patents, focusing on Fragrance and Agriculture. They operate highly scalable encapsulation processes that deliver superior products. Encapsys provides co-ops with opportunities to build strong resumes by matching individual interests with available projects that have a high level of responsibility and strong impacts on the bottom line. Co-ops will work on both collaborative and independent projects with engineer/scientist project leaders and will be assigned a mentor for guidance. Process Engineering is vital for taking products and processes from lab and pilot scale trials to full-scale manufacturing in a timely and cost-effective manner. The team collaborates closely with R&D and Manufacturing from project inception to commercialization, working on new product and process development, cost reduction, product line extensions, equipment design, scale-up, and exploration of new technologies.

Requirements

  • Educational background includes individuals earning their B.S. with at least a 3.00 GPA in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or Material Science/Engineering

Responsibilities

  • Designing, planning and conducting lab and pilot scale experiments
  • Testing products
  • Organizing and executing project plans
  • Supporting the encapsulation scientists and process design engineers on pilot or production equipment during experimental trials
  • Involvement in the day-to-day operations of an agriculture encapsulation plant as a process engineer
  • Participation in project work, daily duties, production meetings, and production-scale trials
  • Producing written summary reports and presentations
