About The Position

Encapsys, now a part of Milliken & Company, is seeking student co-ops for the 2027 calendar year to join their team in Appleton, WI. This is a competitively paid co-op position for students in Chemical Engineering, Material Science/Engineering, or Chemistry programs. Encapsys operates in the specialty chemicals industry, holding over 75 encapsulation patents and is a global leader in encapsulation technologies for Fragrance and Agriculture. They offer co-ops the opportunity to build strong resumes by working on projects with high responsibility that impact the bottom line. Co-ops will work on both collaborative and independent projects with engineer/scientist project leaders and will be assigned a mentor for guidance. Process Engineering is crucial for scaling products and processes from lab to full-scale manufacturing, working closely with R&D and Manufacturing teams on new product/process development, cost reduction, equipment design, scale-up, and new technology exploration.

Requirements

  • Educational background includes individuals earning their B.S. with at least a 3.00 GPA in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science/Engineering, or other supporting competencies.
  • Rising Juniors and Seniors preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, planning and conducting lab and pilot scale experiments
  • Testing products
  • Organizing and executing project plans
  • Supporting the encapsulation scientists and process design engineers on pilot or production equipment during experimental trials
  • Involvement in the day-to-day operations of an agriculture encapsulation plant as a process engineer
  • Participation in project work, daily duties, production meetings, and production-scale trials
  • Producing written summary reports and presentations
