About The Position

This position reports directly to the Process Engineering Supervisor and is responsible for the general and specific job duties of IAC as described below. The role involves initiating machine processes, making adjustments within process tolerance, and recommending changes for improved efficiencies. The Process Engineer will continually monitor all processes related to machinery to ensure equipment is running at optimal efficiency. This includes equipment such as Jenoptik laser cutting, Urethane (soft foam molding), Waterjet, Vacform, Vibration welders, secondary equipment, punch press, paint line, Fanuc and ABB robotics, and sonic welders. The position also requires participation in analyzing and resolving process, equipment, and tool issues, as well as assisting in the set-up and start-up of new tools, equipment, and resins for trial. The role involves assisting machine operators with troubleshooting, monitoring product quality against current specifications, ensuring process parameters are followed, and troubleshooting engineering/equipment related issues for the entire facility. The Process Engineer will work with limited supervision, maintain cooperation among shifts and departments, and train and oversee Process Techs on each shift.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in a technical; or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience in engineering, preferably in an automotive manufacturing environment
  • Must have experience processing
  • Excellent computer and communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting capabilities
  • Ability to pay attention to detail
  • Must be able to stand on feet 8-12 hours a day
  • Must be able to lift up to 75lbs on an occasional basis and 40 lbs on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to perform overhead work as well as work below the waist.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with urethane and robotics is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate machine process, make adjustments within process tolerance and recommend any changes for improved efficiencies.
  • Continually monitor all processes related to machinery to ensure equipment is running at optimal efficiency (Jenoptik laser cutting, Urethane (soft foam molding), Waterjet, Vacform, Vibration welders, secondary equipment, punch press, paint line, Fanuc and ABB robotics, sonic welder etc.).
  • Participate in analyzing and work to resolve process, equipment and tool issues.
  • Assist in the set-up and start-up of new tools, new equipment and resins for trial.
  • Assist with the set-up and maintenance of other equipment as required. Including but not limited waterjet, vacform, vibration welders, secondary equipment, punch press, paint line, robotics, sonic welder etc.
  • Assist machine operators as required to troubleshoot.
  • Responsible for regular and periodic monitoring of product for acceptable quality and the most current specifications.
  • Ensure process parameters are followed; and troubleshoot any engineering/equipment related issues for the entire facility.
  • Work with limited supervision and maintain an atmosphere of cooperation among and between shifts and departments.
  • Train and oversee Process Tech’s on each shift.

Report all accidents and near misses in a timely manner when they occur.
  • Maintain proper ergonomics at all times when performing assigned tasks.
  • Perform daily cross-functional job assignments in all areas of your assigned department per the established procedures and work guidance.
  • Participate and support all lean, continuous improvement programs, initiatives and activities.
  • Clean all assigned work areas after completion of the required work according to 5s standards.
  • Maintain proper radio etiquette when using company radios, PA System and/or phone, business use only.
  • Maintain professionalism when representing the company.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
