About The Position

This role focuses on improving and maintaining the manufacturing processes for semiconductor chips and optical (photonics) components to ensure accurate, consistent, and cost-effective production. The Process Engineer will identify and resolve production problems, facilitate the transition of new technologies from R&D to production, and collaborate with various teams to support new product launches. Key responsibilities include ensuring adherence to quality and ISO standards, utilizing specialized manufacturing and measurement tools, and managing internal production systems for smooth operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Systems, Manufacturing, or related field.
  • 5 years of experience with Automation of bar stacking for laser facet coating or related.
  • Strong understanding of semiconductor, photonics, and optoelectronic laser manufacturing processes, materials, and cleanroom fabrication environments.
  • Specialized experience in high-volume BGA manufacturing, including automated assembly processes, reflow operations, inspection systems, and tooling used for substrate, die, and package integration.
  • Experience working with complex, high-volume manufacturing tools used for precision pick and place components, including the ability to troubleshoot line-down situations that directly impact yield and production output.
  • Knowledge of process improvement methodologies DOE, SPC (including SPC rules), and FMEA.
  • Experience with automation software and hardware in advanced manufacturing environments.
  • Proficiency in data analysis using Excel, JMP, Minitab, and statistical process control tools.
  • Knowledge of basic laser functions and related process modules.
  • Experience designing jigs and fixtures for load processes and thin film facet coating in high-volume manufacturing.
  • Understanding of water quality data as it relates to manufacturing process control.
  • Experience with Agile change control, configuration management (CM), and OCAPs (Out of Control Action Plans).
  • Experience supporting technology transfer from R&D to high-volume manufacturing and new product introduction (NPI) efforts.
  • Ability to develop and maintain process documentation, SOPs, and work instructions in compliance with quality and ISO standards.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor fabrication tools, photonics manufacturing equipment, metrology/inspection systems, MES, and ERP platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with design, quality, equipment, and supply chain teams to solve manufacturing issues and support new product launches.
  • Ensure proper procedures and documentation are in place and that manufacturing follows quality and ISO standards.
  • Utilize specialized manufacturing machines, laser and optical equipment, inspection and measurement tools, and data analysis software to monitor performance and improve processes.
  • Work with internal production systems to track manufacturing activity and ensure smooth and reliable operations.
