About The Position

The Engineer I, Process Engineering, at Thermo Fisher Scientific will play a crucial role in supporting manufacturing operations, process improvements, and engineering projects. This position works closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, quality, maintenance, analytical development, and packaging, to support process performance, troubleshooting activities, and implementation of improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 0-2 years of experience in a complex chemical, pharmaceutical, or regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Internship or co- op experience in manufacturing or industrial environments will be considered
  • Exposure to process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma)
  • Experience working with engineering data analysis tools (Excel, Minitab, etc.)
  • Familiarity with industrial equipment, manufacturing processes, or automation systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly and effectively across functions and organizational levels.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment while independently managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, regulated setting.

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to- day manufacturing operations by assisting in troubleshooting process issues and identifying root causes.
  • Monitor process performance and analyze operational data to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Assist with the implementation of process improvements to increase efficiency, reliability, and product quality.
  • Collect and analyze process data to support engineering evaluations, improvement initiatives, and operational decision- making.
  • Support execution of engineering projects, including process improvements, equipment upgrades, automation initiatives, and capital projects.
  • Assist in equipment evaluation, testing, installation, and startup activities.
  • Participate in process trials, validation activities, and engineering studies.
  • Support development and updates of technical documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and engineering reports.
  • Ensure engineering documentation aligns with internal quality and regulatory standards.
  • Work cross- functionally with operations, quality, maintenance, EHS, supply chain, and engineering teams to support operational and project objectives.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on improving process efficiency, reducing downtime, and supporting cost optimization.
