Night Shift Process Engineer - Thin Films

Micron Technology•Manassas, VA
•$74,000 - $145,000

About The Position

Micron Technology is hiring a New College Graduate Process Engineer to support wafer manufacturing. The role supervises operations, reviews and analyzes manufacturing data, and works with engineering and production teams to improve yield, quality, and efficiency. Engineers identify abnormal conditions, troubleshoot problems in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, and follow established procedures. Over time, they are expected to analyze large datasets, communicate their conclusions, and develop engineering solutions. This is a night-shift role with 12-hour shifts on a rotating schedule: three days on and four days off, followed by four days on and three days off. The engineer may need to move between shifts or work overtime. Cleanroom garments are required for approximately 20% of the work, depending on the department, and occasional PPE such as chemical aprons and face shields is required approximately 1% of the time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or a related science field.
  • Availability for 12-hour shifts on a 3-days-on/4-days-off and 4-days-on/3-days-off schedule, with flexibility to move between shifts or work overtime as needed.
  • Ability to work the night shift.
  • Ability to wear cleanroom garments (approximately 20% of the time, depending on department) and occasional PPE such as chemical aprons and face shields (approximately 1% of the time).
  • Proficiency in applying AI technologies such as Copilot or Claude.

Nice To Haves

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or a related science field, or equivalent experience, technical certification, military training, or applied coursework in science, engineering, manufacturing, or a related field.
  • Experience demonstrating well-adapted execution, data-driven work, or process adherence in manufacturing, laboratory, cleanroom, or other high-reliability environments.
  • Experience with process monitoring, data interpretation, or Statistical Process concepts; training on Micron-specific systems will be provided after hire.
  • Experience using AI tools such as MS 365 Copilot or Claude.

Responsibilities

  • Complete required safety training, work safely in varied environments, including uneven terrain and confined spaces, and respond appropriately to potential hazards.
  • Manage semiconductor equipment, perform technical evaluations, and partner with cross-functional teams to monitor, stabilize, and improve wafer fabrication processes.
  • Collaborate with or lead engineering teams to improve workstations and use structured troubleshooting and customer concern paths for process or equipment issues.
  • Monitor process indicators, including Statistical Process Control charts, dashboards, and alarms, to identify unusual conditions and take appropriate action.
  • Communicate clearly, manage time effectively, and follow procedures with minimal direction.
  • Collect, review, and document production and process data using computer-based systems to support output, quality, and traceability.
  • Conduct technical experiments, run process tests, and prepare data visualizations to identify yield and process trends.
  • Participate in shift pass-downs and cross-functional communication to ensure production continuity.

Benefits

  • Choice of medical, dental, and vision plans.
  • Programs to help protect income in the event of illness or injury.
  • Paid family leave.
  • Paid time off.
  • Paid holidays.
  • Additional compensation may include bonuses and equity.
