About The Position

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Process Engineer to join our team at Harmac Pacific Pulp Mill. Under the direction of the Technical Services Superintendent, you will play a critical role in optimizing our pulp production processes and quality and improving environmental impact. Your expertise will be essential in identifying opportunities for process enhancements, troubleshooting complex issues, and implementing innovative solutions to drive continuous improvement throughout the operation. We view this position as a development opportunity for an engineer interested in taking on more responsible management positions in our organization.

Requirements

  • Recent completion of a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or other engineering degree.
  • Previous experience in pulp and paper or other manufacturing industries would be considered a strong asset
  • Eligible for, or working towards, registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of the Province of British Columbia (EGBC)
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, facilitating seamless collaboration across departments and with external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated expertise in troubleshooting intricate process issues and implementing effective, technically sound solutions.
  • Project management skills, including multitasking and prioritization abilities.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Unwavering commitment to health and safety protocols and environmental compliance.

Nice To Haves

  • Training will be offered to those in their final co-op with the opportunity with a pathway to develop into the process engineering role.
  • We will also consider those who may be interested in completing their final co-op term with Harmac.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance process performance at the mill
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and implement innovative, effective solutions.
  • Monitor production processes and KPIs, ensuring we meet quality, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Analyze data to make informed decisions that boost productivity and reduce our carbon footprint.
