About The Position

Reynolds Consumer Products is hiring a Process Engineer at its Bellwood Manufacturing Facility in Bellwood, Virginia. The Process Engineer improves the safety, quality, reliability, throughput, and cost performance of assigned manufacturing processes and serves as the technical owner for designated production lines. The role leads data-driven process improvements, standardization, equipment optimization, trials, and capital initiatives, delivering measurable and sustainable improvements through engineering analysis and disciplined execution. The position establishes process controls and standard work, leads troubleshooting and improvement efforts, supports trials and scale-up activities, trains employees on new and revised processes, and communicates findings and recommendations to plant leadership. It operates with a high degree of day-to-day independence within established standards, with guidance available for unfamiliar, higher-risk, or strategically significant decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience to perform the essential functions.
  • At least 2 years of engineering experience supporting manufacturing, industrial, or process improvement environments.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and strong technical, analytical, and structured problem-solving skills, including experience with root-cause analysis methods.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, process controls, and Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Ability to analyze operational data, identify process relationships, and develop practical engineering recommendations.
  • Ability to apply structured problem-solving, root-cause analysis, and basic statistical methods to manufacturing issues.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for documenting technical findings and presenting recommendations across organizational levels.
  • Ability to organize technical work, maintain accurate documentation, and manage multiple engineering priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in printing, packaging, nylon film, blown-film extrusion, or film converting.
  • Experience supporting continuous improvement or Lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Experience supporting capital projects in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with process optimization, manufacturing equipment, or product commercialization.
  • Experience with manufacturing data-visualization tools, enterprise resource-planning systems, CAD software, PLC programming, digital production-management platforms, or related manufacturing systems.
  • Working knowledge of SAP.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain subject-matter expertise for assigned production lines and critical assets.
  • Coordinate improvement initiatives addressing safety, quality, productivity, and manufacturing-efficiency losses.
  • Develop, standardize, and maintain manufacturing process standards and process controls.
  • Develop and deliver training on new and revised processes and train operations personnel on process principles, standard operating responses, and recovery procedures.
  • Monitor manufacturing performance data to confirm process stability, detect trends, and identify coaching or corrective-action needs.
  • Build collaborative working relationships with operations personnel through active listening and respectful communication.
  • Lead structured troubleshooting of process and equipment failures, identify root causes, implement permanent corrective actions, and establish response standards for recurring conditions.
  • Lead engineering evaluations to optimize equipment performance, process capability, and product consistency.
  • Develop and maintain process specifications, operating standards, control plans, and engineering documentation.
  • Plan and execute manufacturing implementation and scale-up of new products, equipment, and processes.
  • Partner with Production, Maintenance, Quality, Research and Development, and Engineering to resolve technical issues and improve plant performance.
  • Support product-quality investigations, identify process-related causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and technical partners to evaluate manufacturing technologies and recommend plant improvements.
  • Plan and execute process trials, including design of experiments where appropriate.
  • Lead structured problem-solving initiatives using Lean manufacturing methods, Kaizen events, focused improvement actions, and other root-cause analysis techniques.
  • Analyze production losses, downtime, scrap, quality variation, process capability, rate performance, and cost data; prioritize opportunities and present recommendations to plant leadership.
  • Validate improvement results with data and performance metrics, then establish control plans, monitoring, and ownership routines to sustain gains.
  • Develop engineering recommendations that define expected operational benefits, implementation requirements, risks, and measures of success.
  • Support capital improvement projects from planning through implementation, including project requests, assigned actions, stakeholder coordination, and supplier collaboration.
  • Evaluate project feasibility by analyzing process data, defining operating requirements, and documenting anticipated benefits and technical risks.
