About The Position

Flex is seeking a Process Engineer (Swing Shift) to join their team in Coopersville, MI. This role reports to the Director of Engineering and is responsible for process-engineering capabilities focused on improving cost, quality, and delivery within the manufacturing organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, technologies, and techniques, with the ability to identify root causes of failures and implement solutions. This position involves hands-on participation in daily production activities, capital equipment justification and implementation, and the development of robust process parameters and control methodologies. The role also includes troubleshooting process-related issues, driving cycle time and process improvements, evaluating materials, and implementing statistical process research. Additionally, the Process Engineer will focus on safety, productivity, and throughput improvements, develop and maintain process documentation, interface with production for new process implementation, assist with training, provide equipment maintenance support, and guide cost improvement programs.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience and training.
  • Typically requires 3 years of experience in engineering in the high technology electronics industry or related area.

Responsibilities

  • Recognize the manufacturing process, technologies, techniques and the product.
  • Define, implement and evaluate proposed designs and processes for manufacturability.
  • Identify root causes of failures in the manufacturing process, singly or with other engineering stakeholders.
  • Participate in daily production activities and effective problem solving on daily issues.
  • Prepare justification, purchase and implement capital equipment for production.
  • Hold up and oversee new process equipment production.
  • Hold up the raising and introduction of engineering change orders (ECOs).
  • Establish robust, repeatable and reproducible process parameters.
  • Develop, implement and take ownership of process control methodologies.
  • Trouble shoot process related issues.
  • Participate in activities pertaining to cycle time and process improvements.
  • Evaluate and select various engineered materials.
  • Implement statistical process research on new and existing products.
  • Implement safety, productivity and give in improvements.
  • Improve manufacturing techniques and through put.
  • Provide continuous development of manufacturing techniques that will improve in-house capabilities and gives in.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation.
  • Review processing methods.
  • Interface with production of all activities associated with new process implementation and transfer.
  • Assist in the development of training and provide training to production personnel during new technology transfer.
  • Provide equipment maintenance and repair hold up as required.
  • Guide cost improvement/reduction programs.
