About The Position

Leidos is seeking a hands-on Process Engineer to support development, implementation, and ramp-up of a new electronics manufacturing facility. The role helps establish manufacturing capabilities, including facility layout development, equipment installation and commissioning, and process optimization across surface mount technology (SMT), conformal coating, inspection, and automated test operations. The Process Engineer works with Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality, Facilities, and Operations to create efficient production workflows, improve equipment utilization, and support transitions from PCBA manufacturing through subassembly and final integration. The position develops, documents, and executes manufacturing processes and procedures for electronic products, and supports printed circuit board assembly operations involving SMT, through-hole selective solder, press fit, conformal coating, and related processes. The engineer collaborates across disciplines to develop hardware, program manufacturing machines, oversee manufacturing activities, complete assembly details with Operations, validate customer quality requirements, and coordinate with Production Control to meet delivery schedules.

  • Experience with electronics used on launch vehicles, targets, or missile components, and with production of cable harnesses, electronics, and electromechanical assemblies.
  • Experience in quality roles.
  • Experience using Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
  • Experience with Costpoint Material Planning and/or Agile/Windchill product lifecycle management software.
  • Knowledge of electronic component handling requirements and ESD procedures.
  • Current or prior IPC/WHMA-A-610 and J-STD-001 certification.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, document, and execute manufacturing processes and procedures for electronic products.
  • Support production of printed circuit board assemblies using SMT, through-hole selective solder, press fit, conformal coating, and other PCBA manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop hardware and use automated assembly and test equipment.
  • Create machine programs and oversee manufacturing activities.
  • Work with Operations to complete assembly details and prepare assemblies for customer delivery.
