About The Position

The Process Engineer supports manufacturing and service operations for aviation support equipment and aerospace tooling. The role translates customer drawings, specifications, and requirements into practical process documentation, operating instructions, manufacturing drawings, and process details for new and repeat work. It supports efficient routing of parts and assemblies through appropriate machines, tools, and processes while helping meet quality, cost, and delivery goals. The engineer serves as a technical resource for shop operations, helping resolve producibility, drawing interpretation, material-use, process-flow, and bottleneck challenges. The role works with operations, quality, programming, tooling, customers, and suppliers to support job launches, production and repair activities, supplier requirements, quoting, and continuous improvement. It also investigates failures and recommends practical improvements to designs, tolerances, or processing methods.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience in a manufacturing, operations, or engineering environment.
  • 5–10 years of experience supporting manufacturing, service operations, or engineering processes.
  • Solid understanding of workflow, routing, and shop-floor execution.
  • Working knowledge of hardware specifications, manufacturing methods, quality requirements, product development, GD&T, and CAD/CAM tools.
  • Ability to translate technical information into clear written instructions, drawings, process details, and verbal communication for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Collaborative approach to working with operations, quality, tooling, programming, suppliers, and customer-facing teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to navigate complexity, identify root causes, and recommend practical improvements.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and organization when managing technical documentation, process requirements, and multiple priorities.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office, ERP systems such as JobBOSS, and drafting or engineering software.

  • Represent the company in technical discussions with customers and participate in meetings requiring engineering or process input.
  • Create manufacturing drawings, work instructions, and process details for production and service repair activities.
  • Apply continuous improvement and lean manufacturing methods to improve quality, reliability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Define hardware, material, fixture, outside-processing, programming, and other production requirements for job launches.
  • Provide technical guidance to suppliers to help meet customer requirements, specifications, and quality expectations.
  • Collaborate with outside tooling suppliers to review tooling needs, resolve technical questions, and support tooling solutions.
  • Investigate failure root causes using data and engineering judgment, and recommend improvements to designs, tolerances, or processing methods.
  • Partner with operations, programming, quality, and tooling teams to review designs for manufacturability, support quoting, and provide technical input during quoting discussions.
  • Work cross-functionally to improve quality control, reduce errors, and make shop processes more effective.
