About The Position

Hexcel is seeking a Process Engineer for its Amesbury, Massachusetts location. The role supports manufacturing of plastic and rubber materials by analyzing manufacturing techniques, procedures, and process conditions; assessing how processing affects material properties; and troubleshooting problems. The engineer is responsible for managing process conditions to meet Process Control Document requirements and required mechanical and physical properties. The position also supports product costing, creates and manages bills of materials and process plans for resin manufacturing processes, develops and implements processing conditions, and trains operations personnel. The engineer develops continuous improvement plans and processes and writes and maintains detailed procedures and specifications. This position is restricted to U.S. citizens because of federal government contract requirements.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science degree in Plastics Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, Materials Engineering, or Polymer Chemistry.
1–3 years of industry experience in a manufacturing or product development environment.
Ability to evaluate, develop, and manage process parameters in product manufacturing.
High attention to detail.
Must be able to obtain a Department of Defense security clearance.
Current computer literacy, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
Must be a U.S. citizen due to federal government contract requirements.

Nice To Haves

Experience in Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma continuous improvement programs.
Green belt certification.
Knowledge of CAD software such as SolidWorks, Solid Edge, or Mastercam.

Responsibilities

Analyze and interpret plastic and rubber material manufacturing techniques, procedures, and processing conditions.
Evaluate processing conditions and resulting material properties, and troubleshoot as necessary.
Manage process conditions to meet Process Control Document requirements and mechanical and physical property requirements.
Troubleshoot manufacturing process problems and implement corrective measures.
Evaluate and provide costing support for new and existing products.
Create and manage bills of materials and process plans for multiple resin manufacturing processes to support operations.
Develop and implement processing conditions.
Provide training to operations personnel as necessary.
Develop and execute continuous improvement plans and processes.
Write and maintain detailed procedures and specifications.
