Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in the following Engineering Disciplines: Chemical, Materials, Mechanical, Industrial or Ceramic Engineering or other related engineering discipline
  • 2+ years' experience in Manufacturing Environment or related technical experience
  • Knowledge of manufacturing systems, production processes, and standard engineering principles
  • Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement tools
  • Experience with 5S, kaizen, value stream mapping, standard work, flow improvement, line balancing, or work cell design
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project

  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
  • Knowledge of manufacturing cost accounting
  • Project management experience

Responsibilities

  • Support manufacturing operations through process analysis, troubleshooting, and improvement activities
  • Identify and implement process improvements to reduce waste, improve flow, increase capacity, and lower cost
  • Apply Lean tools such as 5S, kaizen, value stream mapping, visual management, and standard work
  • Assist with process documentation, operating procedures, and standard work updates
  • Collect and analyze data to identify trends and improvement opportunities
  • Support line balancing, workflow, layout, staffing, and work cell improvements
  • Partner with operations, maintenance, quality, and other teams to resolve technical issues
  • Participate in projects that improve manufacturing efficiency, safety, and productivity
  • Communicate progress, findings, and recommendations clearly
