About The Position

This role is for a hands-on technical leader in a manufacturing plant, focused on improving safety, quality, yield, rates, and overall line performance. The Process Engineer will serve as a frontline engineering resource dedicated to sustaining and enhancing daily manufacturing operations, with a particular emphasis on process optimization, process control, and loss elimination. Key responsibilities include owning critical process parameters, implementing structured problem-solving approaches, and transforming recurring issues into sustainable solutions. The role also involves active participation in operational routines, small projects, trials, and equipment enhancements, balancing immediate improvements with long-term capability development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (4-year) in engineering.
  • 2–5 years of manufacturing experience in process engineering and/or process development.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing / Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • Strong analytical judgment and structured problem solving/troubleshooting.
  • Ability to influence, mentor, and coach—getting results through others.
  • Organized project execution: set direction, prioritize actions, and drive progress with cross-functional teams.
  • Bias for action paired with safe, thoughtful decision-making and a demonstrated passion for safety.

Nice To Haves

  • Food or consumer products experience is a plus.
  • Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering (or an equivalent technical background with strong, hands-on manufacturing/process improvement experience).

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the frontline process owner for sustaining and improving safety, quality, yield, rates, and efficiency in the assigned area/lines.
  • Own processing and/or packaging parameters, providing technical oversight and support to the Operations team.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives utilizing best practices, new technology, and equipment upgrades to enhance performance and consistency.
  • Provide daily technical support to maintain performance targets and troubleshoot process upsets, implementing repeatable countermeasures.
  • Support data collection and reporting systems for strong process control and improvement work, including instrumentation, operator data, and downtime/loss tracking.
  • Identify and recommend innovative equipment/technology to support capability upgrades and process improvements.
  • Lead small capital projects and act as a technical sponsor for significant capital improvements.
  • Partner as the plant representative and consultant on product/process changes, including commercialization support and line trials.
  • Support technical training for Operations Specialists/trainers and enhance technical problem-solving capabilities on the floor.
  • Drive cost and loss reduction initiatives related to ingredients/materials and finished product performance, while maintaining product attributes.
