About The Position

The Process Engineer II is responsible to ensure the manufacturing processes are efficient, cost effective, meet Micro’s quality standards and yield products per customer specifications. This role involves improving product quality by reducing process variability, developing and optimizing continuous production and manufacturing processes to achieve output, quality, and cost goals. The position also focuses on optimizing production cycle time and equipment automation, supporting the transition of processes from New Product Development to Production, and leading continuous improvement projects. Additionally, the role supports lean manufacturing principles, develops improvements to manufacturing methods, recommends equipment changes, reads blueprints to drive improvements and troubleshoot issues, reduces product waste, ensures sampling plans are reviewed, provides engineering support for root cause analysis and corrective actions, and contributes to production systems and control activities. The Process Engineer II also provides input for new product equipment selection, installation, and maintenance, maintains subject matter expertise in specific areas, supports tooling and process development, and leads projects and teams, providing mentorship.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field is required.
3-5 years of engineering experience is required.
Must have demonstrated ability to synthesize complex or diverse information.
Must has experience with blueprint reading including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), Statistical Process Control (SPC), Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA, GR&R), Design of Experiments (DOE).
Must have statistical software systems and ERP experience.
Proficient with data analysis, statistics and applied mathematics.

Nice To Haves

Experience in equipment automation and robotic programing, metal fabrication or medical device manufacturing is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Improves product quality by reducing process variability.
Develops and optimizes continuous production and manufacturing processes to achieve the output, quality, and cost goals of the organization.
Optimize production cycle time and equipment automation (including robotic programs) to maximize capacity, utilization and quality.
Support execution of transition processes and knowledge transfer from New Product Development to Production through qualification and stabilization processes.
Leads continuous Improvement projects from concept development to execution, including conducting DOEs, performing Validations, executing Implementations, and developing metrics to monitor efficiencies.
Support lean manufacturing principal projects, such as 6 sigma, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), DMAIC, Kanban, and comply with Electronic Work Instruction (EWI) principal.
Develops improvements to current manufacturing methods and processes.
Recommends changes or upgrades to equipment, work methods, or other aspects of the process to improve efficiency and utilization of resources including labor, energy and raw materials.
Reads blueprints and aligns manufacturing Processes to drive improvements and troubleshoots difficult and complicated issues effectively.
Reduces product waste improving the utilization of capital equipment, cost of quality and optimizing productivity.
Ensures that sampling plans are reviewed upon changes to the product, process or project.
Provides engineering support in determining root cause and works with Quality Engineers to develop appropriate corrective actions.
Provides input to the production systems and designs control activities.
Provides input for new product equipment selection, installation and maintenance.
Maintains subject matter expertise in specific area(s) and understands complex automated machine operations.
Supports the development of tooling and processes.
Leads projects, teams and complex product transitions. Provides mentorship and support to team members.
Responsible for production KPI management (i.e. scrap rate, SPC score, equipment downtime and uptime, product cycle time, machine utilization.
Develop and control Working Standard: Product Structure and Routes, Working Instruction, Procedures, Training Matrix/Modules.
Lead required process qualification planning and executions.
Act as a SME conducting RCAs, focusing on customer quality and delivery demand, apply problem solving and process improvement, and increase customer satisfaction.
Collects production data and applies standard scientific and statistical methods to analyze, document, and diagram production processes. Conducts FMEA, DOE, and SPC analysis.
Use appropriate statistical techniques to analyze data and make/ recommend decisions.
Performs complex data analysis and uses six sigma tools to resolve complex process issues.
Writes detailed work instruction-level documents for manufacturing operations and related areas. Trains personnel in these instructions and other technical process controls (quality engineer).
Develops and documents process operational standards, including identification and deployment of statistical process control opportunities.
Develops all aspects of product and process to improve functionality and launch new products.
Effectively communicates and cooperates with others outside of department boundaries to influence success.
Accurately documents and records necessary data and reports to describe scope of work for sustaining and continuous improvement initiatives. (quality engineer).
Resolves problems and anticipates evolutionary changes in customer requirements and provides corresponding changes in process capability.
Provides equipment design and specifications, including project justification documentation for cost and quality impact.
Quarantines, documents and evaluates products and materials and generates Material Review Board (MRB) Case(s) as appropriate.
