About The Position

Marathon Petroleum Company’s Illinois Refining Division in Robinson, IL is seeking a Process Engineer II/III. The Process Engineer will report to the Process Engineering Manager, and monitors process performance and identifies opportunities for improving yield, energy efficiency, and reliability as well as assisting in planning test runs and developing projects to address opportunities. Relocation is approved for this position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering
  • Two (2) years or more of experience in process engineering within refining, petrochemical, or related industries
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US on a full-time indefinite basis without the need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future
  • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE in the refinery and be able to physically perform all tasks in the field
  • Able to support internal equipment inspections – confined spaces and elevated work

Responsibilities

  • Monitors process performance and identifies opportunities for improving yield, energy efficiency, and reliability.
  • Assists in planning test runs and develops projects to address opportunities.
  • Supports collaboration with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to resolve operational challenges.
  • Develops relationships with console and field operators.
  • Participates in hazard evaluations, incident investigations, and management of change.
  • Participates in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA).
  • Supports turnaround/outage execution.
  • May review turnaround planning, including scope development and post-event evaluations
  • Maintains and updates process documentation.
  • Troubleshoots and maintains unit mass balance within tolerance.
  • Participates in technology advisory groups.
