The estimated annual base salary range for this position is $76,924 - $101,922. Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills and experience, and relevant education or training. This role is also eligible for S&C’s annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria. Join Our Team as a Process Engineer I! The Polymer Products operations at S&C is a world leader for manufacturing medium voltage epoxy insulation products. The engineering team at Polymer Products supports operations team to achieve the yield goals through process controls, mold designs, and trainings; seeks continuous improvement with manufacturing processes, mold designs, tools, and equipment through improvement and capital projects; addresses and resolves quality concerns observed with manufactured products through problem-solving activities; and supports new product/process development through design, procurement, installation, and startup.

Requirements

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university majoring in Mechanical, Chemical or Industrial Engineering or a related major.
  • 0-2 Years of experience in Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial engineering.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic understanding of various manufacturing technologies and methods, preferably within the process or chemical manufacturing industry.
  • Good interpersonal skills to establish meaningful relationships built on mutual trust and respect, and foster collaborative working relationships amongst a diverse audience.
  • Good communication skills (written, verbal, listening, and presentation), able to partner with and communicate with customers, both technical and non-technical.
  • Commitment to fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the quality function.
  • Good organizational planning, coordinating internal and external resources, and juggling key demands
  • Sound business sense and analytical skills with the ability to use and analyze data to drive informed actions, solve basic problems, and drive learning.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, including the flexibility to work extended hours when necessary.
  • Great computer skills and ability to use Microsoft Office applications, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Access, or other similar systems. Including great data analysis skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as drawings, P&ID’s, schematics, PLC Programming or other process related schematics.
  • Basic Experience with CAD, Factory Talk or Wonderware HMI, Sigmasoft or Ansys Simulations

Responsibilities

  • Assist the operations team in meeting product yield and scrap targets by performing process checks, quality control activities, and basic problem-solving tasks.
  • Participate in process optimization efforts for streamlined polymer, plating, painting, and other finishing processes under guidance from senior engineers.
  • Conduct qualification tests on raw materials and products, perform routine material formulation tests, and analyze process data using statistical tools to support continuous improvement.
  • Gain exposure to multiple manufacturing processes, including polymer molding, plating, and painting, to develop a broad understanding of production workflows.
  • Learn design/process principles, material science fundamentals, and standard work practices to build foundational expertise for future responsibilities.
  • Assist with short-term projects related to product quality, process improvements, and troubleshooting equipment.
  • Provide hands-on assistance on small-scale experiments to validate process changes.
  • Create or assist in preparing clear, concise engineering reports, instruction bulletins, and standard work documentation to ensure consistent process execution.
  • Work closely with maintenance, design engineering, operations, and R&D teams to support and communicate input on mold design, material specifications, and process improvements.
  • Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Attend in-person or virtual meetings as requested or required.
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with others.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Collaborate with the R&D team on development efforts and needs.
  • Qualify new tooling/process equipment for manufacturing by obtaining dimensional and validations test results on manufactured product.
  • Visit suppliers for support or Factory Acceptance Testing.
