About The Position

As a Process Engineer here at Honeywell Aerospace, you will play a critical role as part of the Environmental Screening team. In this position, you will work to validate new process equipment, troubleshoot existing equipment, decrease defects, and create and implement new laser weld and burn-in processes for product development. You will report directly to our Environmental Screening Manager and you’ll work out of our San Jose, CA location on an On-site work schedule. In this role, you will impact the efficiency and quality of manufacturing processes by providing hands-on support to production, validating and improving equipment and processes, and ensuring products meet customer and MIL STD screening specifications.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering with 1 to 5 years manufacturing experience
  • Demonstrated ability to make improvements to manufacturing processes
  • Hands-on experience with DC circuits and electrical schematics
  • Experience working on optics equipment or systems such as laser cutters or laser welders
  • Proficiency in spreadsheet software for basic data handling and analysis or writing test scripts in MATLAB, Python, VBA, R, or equivalent
  • Flexibility to support a variety of areas and manage time effectively
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team with engineers and technicians
  • Experience using data loggers and sensors (e.g., thermocouples, accelerometers)

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily production support to the environmental stress screening area by evaluating defects, working with operators, and troubleshooting machines and processes on the manufacturing line to maintain production flow
  • Support burn-in, leak testing, PIND, acceleration, and laser welding areas
  • Validate existing products on new burn-in and laser weld equipment for production use
  • Perform laser weld engineering validation of new and existing products for production
  • Understand customer requirements and MIL STD screening specifications to determine if new products can be welded and tested internally
  • Apply SPC and statistical analysis to monitor and improve processes, identify defects, and improve yields
  • Design and run engineering tests to improve efficiency and develop updated processes for new product development
  • Train operators and write work instructions to document key process steps
