This role is generally responsible for performing complete design of less complex process engineering assignments and assisting in the design of larger and more complex chemical/process engineering assignments. This work will be performed under close supervision. The primary responsibilities include promoting a culture of safety in process design, utilizing department standards, and assisting in developing conceptual layouts and cost studies. The engineer will also help produce preliminary designs, material take-offs, detail design calculations, and sketches. Emphasis will be placed on efficient use of construction materials, ease of construction, and meeting client expectations. The role involves checking calculations, assisting the drafting group, consulting with other disciplines, advising the Lead Engineer on changes, and checking vendor and other discipline drawings. Fieldwork for data gathering, tie-in checks, and construction support is also required. The position demands knowledge of discipline-specific methods for engineering, designing, and constructing process and manufacturing projects, and participation in professional society meetings is encouraged. Willingness to travel for on-site work, meetings, presentations, or training is necessary.
