About The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Engineer to bridge the gap between process science and scalable manufacturing in flexible PCB (FPCB) production. This role will focus on designing, developing, and deploying automation systems that transform complex, precision-driven processes into repeatable, high-yield, and scalable production solutions. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in automation, mechatronics, or controls engineering, with experience integrating robotics, machine vision, and advanced process control in a high-precision manufacturing environment. This role is critical in transforming FPCB manufacturing from process-intensive craftsmanship into scalable, automated production systems—enabling faster innovation, higher quality, and competitive advantage in advanced electronics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in: Automation Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering (Controls focus), or Mechanical Engineering (with automation focus).
  • PLC & controls engineering
  • HMI/SCADA and multi‑axis motion control
  • Industrial robotics & EOAT
  • Precision mechatronics
  • Machine vision/AOI
  • Automation software & industrial networking (Python/C/C++/ST, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, OPC UA).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical mindset
  • Ability to translate complex processes into automated solutions
  • Hands-on engineering approach with system-level thinking
  • High attention to detail for precision manufacturing
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Candidates must qualify as US Persons, defined as US Citizens or Permanent Residents (Green Card Holders).

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement automated systems for FPCB manufacturing processes (e.g., imaging, etching, lamination, plating, laser drilling, inspection, and handling).
  • Translate lab-scale or engineering processes into robust, production-ready automation solutions.
  • Develop scalable architectures that support high-mix, low-volume to high-volume production.
  • Develop and program PLC, HMI, and motion control systems.
  • Integrate robotics, conveyors, and precision handling systems for delicate flexible substrates.
  • Interface equipment with MES, SCADA, and data acquisition systems for real-time monitoring and control.
  • Partner with process engineers to stabilize, optimize, and scale new and existing FPCB processes.
  • Implement advanced process control (APC), closed-loop feedback systems, and data-driven optimization.
  • Drive improvements in yield, throughput, OEE, and defect reduction.
  • Specify, design, and commission custom automation equipment.
  • Work with OEMs and integrators to develop specialized machinery for FPCB processes.
  • Lead FAT, SAT, and ramp-up of new equipment.
  • Enable Industry 4.0 initiatives including: Real-time machine data collection, Predictive maintenance, Digital dashboards and OEE tracking.
  • Develop systems that leverage data for AI/ML-driven process improvements.
  • Work closely with process engineering, quality, operations, and R&D teams.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) and technology transfer into production.
  • Train technicians and operators on automated systems.
